Public Input & Actions

BLM publishes proposed and final rules in the Federal Register and carries out environmental reviews in compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act. Announcing and explaining bureau plans and proposals and providing the public an opportunity to comment on proposed actions is an important part of informed management. We encourage citizens to make their voices heard on the issues that are important to them.

BLM ends emergency fire closure of Lower Birch Creek Wayside near Central, Alaska

Due to reduced wildland fire activity and successful suppression efforts on the Ptarmigan Fire Complex, the BLM lifted the fire closure order that closed the Lower Birch Creek Wayside near mile 140 of the Steese Highway.

BLM ends fire restrictions in the Interior, reopens Nome Creek Valley to public use due to reduced fire risk

The BLM Fairbanks District rescinded fire restrictions opening off-road areas in the Nome Creek Valley to public use and ending the prohibition on open firesthat was in place across most of the District.
