BLM urges fire safety during July Fourth celebrations
SUSANVILLE, Calif. – The Bureau of Land Management reminds area residents and visitors to be careful with fire and to leave fireworks at home when they celebrate Independence Day on public lands.
“After a wet spring and two years of plant growth, we have abundant grasses that are drying out quickly,” said Emily Ryan, manager of the BLM Eagle Lake Field Office. “These fine fuels can feed wildfires that spread rapidly under hot, dry and windy conditions. We urge everyone to keep fire safety top of mind when they visit the outdoors.”

BLM reminds public of ongoing fire restrictions and fire safety in the California Desert District
PALM SPRINGS, Calif. – With the Independence Day holiday approaching, public land users are reminded that Stage II fire restrictions are still in effect throughout the California Desert District.
Stage II restrictions prohibit setting, building, maintaining, attending, or using open fire of any kind and smoking, except within an enclosed vehicle or camp trailer unless prohibited by State or local laws. Controlled flame devices such as portable stoves and lanterns with shut-off valves are allowed with a valid California Campfire Permit.

BLM announces seasonal fire restrictions for lands managed by Arcata Field Office
ARCATA, Calif. – The Bureau of Land Management is issuing fire restrictions for public lands managed by the Arcata Field Office in Del Norte, Humboldt, Trinity, and Mendocino counties beginning Wednesday, July 3. These seasonal fire restrictions listed in the fire order will be in place to help prevent wildfire and will remain in effect until further notice. These restrictions are in addition to the BLM year-round statewide fire prevention order also in effect until further notice.
