ROCK SPRINGS, Wyo. – The Laney Rim fire, located approximately 25 miles south of Rock Springs, Wyoming, remains at 13,198 acres with containment up to 85%.

Today, fire crews are focusing on patrol and strengthening of fire lines. The Southwestern Wyoming Type 3 Incident Management Team is scheduled to turn management of the fire over to a Type 4 team tomorrow morning. The recon flight will also keep a lookout for any hotspots for ground crews to address.

The only areas of the fire considered not contained are in steep difficult terrain. Fire crews have not seen any indication of significant fire activity even though gusty winds have been present throughout the fire area.
