Medford, Ore. – The Rare Plants of Southwest Oregon 2nd edition is an update to the first edition of this wonderful book that was first printed in 2007 by the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest and the Medford District Bureau of Land Management.
The book covers 151 plant species that have some type of special status. It is a compilation of species descriptions, high quality photographs, distribution maps, and data from over 75 professional and amateur botanists. The geographical area covered spans parts of Curry, Coos, and Douglas counties and all of Josephine and Jackson counties. Southwest Oregon is the northern extent of the California floristic province which is one of 35 biodiversity hotspots on the planet. Ecoregions covered include the Klamath Mountains, Coast Range, and the Cascades. This updated edition includes several new species.
The book is for sale at the Medford and Grants Pass Interagency offices for $8.00. The Medford and Grants Pass offices are open from 7:45 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
