The Bureau of Land Management Wyoming State Office has posted its proposed list of parcels for the quarterly competitive oil and gas lease sale scheduled for Thursday, June 22, 2017. This sale is being held online at energynet.com.

The posted list, which identifies 26 parcels totaling 31,924.77acres, initiates a 30-day public protest period. The protest period ends at 4:00 p.m. on March 3, 2017. The parcels being offered during this online lease sale were originally scheduled to be offered on May 2, 2017.

The sale includes parcels located in Carbon, Laramie, Sublette, Sweetwater, and Uinta counties in Wyoming.

This is the first Oil and Gas lease sale being held online for BLM parcels in Wyoming. Moving to online lease sales comes in response to authority provided by Congress as part of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2015, which amended the Mineral Leasing Act allowing the BLM to conduct online lease sales. The BLM has already held successful online oil and gas lease sales in Colorado, Eastern States, Montana, and Utah.

Online sales have the potential to generate greater competition and higher bonus bids by making participation easier, because bidders do not have to travel to a central location. Online sales also provide an opportunity to reduce administrative costs associated with lease sale activities and to provide greater transparency to the public. Observers may log on to the EnergyNet platform (energynet.com) to see a sale as it progresses.

Copies of the complete June 2017 competitive oil and gas lease sale notice will be available at the sale and can be purchased in advance for $5 from the BLM Wyoming State Office, 5353 Yellowstone Rd., Cheyenne, WY 82003, or by writing: BLM, Attn: Copy Work, P.O. Box 1828, Cheyenne, WY 82003. Copies are also available for purchase from each BLM field office in Wyoming.
