Roseburg, Ore. – As part of National Public Lands Day, Douglas High School joined the Bureau of Land Management and local community members in a clean up of the Cow Creek Back Country Byway along Cow Creek Road on September 20, 2018. In total, 57 students participated in the cleanup along with volunteer leaders from Douglas High School. We believe partnerships and inclusion are vital to managing sustainable, working public lands.

“Students cleaned up old televisions, household trash, broken car windows, car tires and lots of micro trash,” said Suzanne Shelp, supervisory recreation planner. “This is the seventeenth year the community has participated in caring for this beautiful area,” Shelp said.

This cleanup was one of two events the Roseburg BLM is hosting for National Public Lands Day this year.

This event is also part of hundreds of events occurring across the nation in celebration of National Public Lands Day. To learn more about NPLD and find an event in your area, visit https://www.neefusa.org/npld.
