LAKEWOOD, Colo. –In keeping with the Administration’s goal of promoting American energy independence, the Bureau of Land Management will offer 83 parcels, totaling 78,691 acres in Cheyenne, Garfield, Jackson, Kiowa, Moffat, Rio Blanco, Routt, and Weld counties at its September 2019 quarterly oil and gas lease sale. The September lease sale includes 75 parcels totaling 69,058 acres of previously deferred Greater-Sage Grouse habitat, now available for leasing with the release of the recent Greater-Sage Grouse plan amendment. This notice initiates a public comment period on associated environmental documents that ends on June 12, 2019. The BLM will hold the lease sale online at www.energynet.com.
Responsible energy development includes thoughtful consideration of parcels nominated for leasing as well as potential resource impacts of decisions to lease. An additional environmental review will take place during processing of an Application for Permit to Drill (APD), when site-specific Conditions of Approval will be placed on the permit in addition to the stipulations attached to the lease.
Comments on the environmental assessments (EAs) must be submitted through the September 2019 ePlanning Site. The environmental documents, lists and maps of the parcels, and attached stipulations are online on the ePlanning Site.
