Salem, Ore. - Volunteers are invited to join the Bureau of Land Management for four events to celebrate National Public Lands Day. These all-ages events are some of many being offered across the country to celebrate service in our nation’s treasured public lands. As stewards, the BLM manages public lands for the benefit of current and future generations, and supporting conservation as we pursue our multiple-use mission.

September 22, 2018: Gooseneck Corridor “Buckets of Brass” Clean Up, Grand Ronde, OR

Help collect and remove litter from this popular recreation and target shooting area. Buckets and gloves will be provided. Participants should meet at 9:00 a.m. at mile post 1.0 on Gooseneck Road. This event is being offered in cooperation with Polk County Sheriff’s Office, Polk County Community Corrections Dumpstopper Program, and the Greater Yamhill Watershed Council.

September 23, 2018: Marys Peak Clean Up, Philomath, OR

Help collect and remove litter from this popular recreation area. Participants should meet at 9:00 a.m. at mile post 4.0 on the Marys Peak Access Road. This event is being offered in cooperation with the Benton County Sheriffs Office and TrashNoLand.org, a local organization dedicated to responsible target shooting practices on public lands. 

September 22, 2018: West Eugene Wetlands Restoration, Eugene, OR

Help plant native species including camas, milkweed and various flowering plants to provide food for rare butterflies and bumble bees. Additional activities include pruning blackberries and trash collection. Participants should meet at 9:00 a.m. at the Red House located at 751 S. Danebo Ave in Eugene. This event is being offered in cooperation with the City of Eugene.

September 22, 2018: Yaquina Head Outstanding Natural Area, Newport, OR

Help remove invasive species or work in the Lighthouse Keeper’s Garden. Service projects will start on the hour from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Participants should meet at the Interpretive Center. Tools and gloves will be provided. All volunteers will receive a Public Lands Day t-shirt.
