Humboldt River Field Office invites volunteers to National Trails Day at Water Canyon Recreation Area

WINNEMUCCA, Nev.  — On June 4, the public is invited to volunteer at Water Canyon Recreation Area and participate in trail maintenance. The event will start at 8 a.m. Volunteers who wish to participate should RSVP to Joel Bridges at jbridges@blm.gov or call 775-623-1500.

Parking signage and/or volunteers will be posted at the recreation area main gate to show participants where to park.

Volunteers participating should be prepared to do trail tread work, which can both be strenuous and physically exhausting. Bring your favorite grubbing and brushing tools, some specialty tools will be provided.

Work boots or hiking boots, work gloves and eye protection are required for participation. Sneakers do not provide adequate protection and will not be allowed. Hard hats will be provided. Kid sized tools will be provided for children.

All human family members are welcome, please leave pets at home. Also, please bring a lunch and plenty of water.
