Fire Staff Win Excellence in Dispatching Awards

Katie Williamson of Cody and Wade Wyman of Worland have been recognized for their excellence in dispatching and dispatching support.

Williamson, U.S. Forest Service assistant center manager of the Cody Interagency Dispatch Center, was awarded the 2016 National Excellence in Dispatching Award by the National Interagency Coordination Center. The NICC is the focal point for coordinating the mobilization of resources for wildland fire and other emergency incidents throughout the U.S. Williamson was recognized for her outstanding contributions to the dispatching, coordinating and resource mobilization support process.

Williamson was first selected as the 2016 Rocky Mountain Area Dispatcher of the Year and was then submitted as the Rocky Mountain Area nominee for the national award. The Rocky Mountain Area Dispatcher of the Year Award recognizes an individual for exemplifying the standards and professionalism expected within the Rocky Mountain area dispatch community.

“Katie brings forth a professionalism that exhibits kindness and tactfulness,” said Cathy Hutton, manager of the Cody Interagency Dispatch Center. “She has always met challenges with a positive attitude and a calm demeanor regardless of the chaotic situation that presents itself.”

Wade Wyman, BLM fire management and program analyst for the Wind River/Bighorn Basin District, received the 2016 Dispatch Support Award from the Rocky Mountain Area Coordination Center. Wyman was selected as the person who best exemplifies the standards and professionalism of the support given to Rocky Mountain area dispatch centers, incident management teams and firefighters.

"Wade has been critical to the success of the Cody Interagency Dispatch Center," said BLM Fire Management Officer Rich Zimmerlee. "He has been in fire for many years in various capacities and is known as someone who can make the impossible happen. Wade truly is an asset to our dispatch center and zone."
