CANON CITY, Colo - Stage 1 fire restrictions were lifted Tuesday, Aug. 9, for public lands managed by the Royal Gorge Field Office. The Pike and San Isabel National Forest also lifted fire restrictions effective Tuesday.

Stage 1 Restrictions will be lifted on BLM lands within in the following counties in Colorado:  Boulder; Chaffee; Clear Creek; Custer; El Paso; Fremont; Gilpin; Huerfano; Jefferson; Lake; Larimer; Las Animas; Lincoln; Logan; Morgan; Park; Pueblo; Sedgwick; Teller; Washington; Weld and Yuma.

Fire managers base decisions about fire restrictions on specific moisture measurements in vegetation and other risk factors. Recent moisture along the Front Range of Colorado has significantly lowered the fire danger, but land managers still urge the public to remain vigilant with fire.

“Lower fire danger does not mean no fire danger,” said Keith Berger, Field Manager for the BLM Royal Gorge  Field Office. “We would like to thank the public for their cooperation and diligence during the fire restrictions. Please continue to be careful.”

Fireworks are always prohibited on BLM, National Forest and National Park Service lands.

For more information about additional fire restrictions on other lands in your area, contact the appropriate County Sheriff's office.
