GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – The Dominguez-Escalante National Conservation Area Advisory Council is scheduled to meet Wednesday, July 23 in Grand Junction to discuss sensitive resource issues.
The Advisory Council provides guidance to the Bureau of Land Management in its management of the NCA through an open meeting format with an opportunity for the public to comment. The focus of the meeting Wednesday is to discuss winter range protections and changes to the NCA's Proposed Resource Management Plan.
"The advisory meetings to date have been critical in helping the BLM understand the various views and needs of the members of this community,” said Collin Ewing, manager of the NCA. Ewing explained that the BLM adjusted the Proposed Resource Management Plan due to specific input from the public and the diverse group of local citizens serving on the council. “We are putting the finishing touches on this plan and want to check in again to make sure we understand the feedback we received from the public during the comment period last summer."
The public is welcome to attend the Grand Junction meeting Wednesday from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Mesa County Central Services Building, 200 S. Spruce Street, room 40, Grand Junction, CO 81501.
