Come “Discover the Coast” at Point Arena community celebration

Photo  by Bob Wick, BLM.POINT ARENA, Calif. – The Bureau of Land Management Ukiah Field Office and the Point Arena community invite the public to come out and celebrate “Discover the Coast,” on World Oceans Day, from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., June 9, at the Point Arena-Stornetta unit of the California Coastal National Monument.

This free community celebration is sponsored by the BLM, Mendocino College, Friends of Point Arena-Stornetta Lands, Point Arena Lighthouse and the City of Point Arena.

The event will include shuttle service to California Native Plant guided wildflower walks along the Discovery Trail and tours of the culture and history of the Manchester Band of the Pomo Native American Tribe. The Mendocino College Field Station will have an open house showcasing ongoing field studies, City Hall will house informational exhibits and the Point Arena Lighthouse Museum and gift shop will be open for browsing. Food booths will offer tasty treats throughout the event.
