Roseburg, Ore. – Wondering what to do on a Saturday in July? Get out and explore the North Umpqua Wild and Scenic River and the North Umpqua Trail as part of the 50th Anniversary Celebration of the Wild and Scenic Rivers and National Trails Act!

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Roseburg District, the U.S. Forest Service Umpqua National Forest and the National Park Service are inviting the community to join in celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Wild and Scenic Rivers and National Trails Act at the Susan Creek Day Use Area on July 14, 2018, beginning at 10:00 a.m.  

The celebration will include ranger-led hikes, fly-casting demonstrations, boater and angler information, cross cut saw demonstrations, and exciting kids educational activities inside the U.S. Forest Service salmon tent!  The first 50 people to attend will receive a free t-Shirt. Raffle, food and prizes will be available.

Schedule of activities for the day include:

  • Welcome and opening: 10:00 a.m.
  • Nature Hike on the Emerald Trail – Departs Day Use Area: 10:30 a.m., 12:00 noon, and 1:15 p.m.
  • Special guest presentation by Bob Hall and the Homemade Jam Band: 11:30 a.m.
  • Mountain Bike Demonstration: 10:30-2:00 p.m.
  • Fly Casting Information and Demonstration: 10:30-2:00 p.m.
  • Crosscut Saw Demonstration: 10:30-2:00 p.m.
