Bureau of Land Management to hold public scoping on Gold Butte National Monument future management

LAS VEGAS — The Bureau of Land Management Southern Nevada District will hold two public scoping meetings to involve the public in a proposed management plan for the Gold Butte National Monument. The Las Vegas Field Office is in the scoping stage of identifying issues for the plan and invites the public to submit input.
“We are in the scoping process of the development of a plan for managing the monument and public input is crucial at this point,” said Shonna Dooman, Las Vegas Field Manager. “Input from members of the public helps us develop a well-balanced plan.”
The proposed Implementation Plan will be developed in conformance with Presidential Order 9559, the Gold Butte National Monument Proclamation of December 28, 2016, and the Las Vegas Resource Management Plan, meeting the objective of protecting natural and cultural resources. An Environmental Assessment is being developed as part of the planning process to understand the effects of land management actions on resources found within the monument planning area.
The virtual scoping meetings will be held online on November 29 and 30, 2022, from 6 to 8 p.m. Pacific Time.
