BLM Tres Rios Field Office to host transportation planning open houses

DOLORES, Colo. – On Jan. 30 and 31, the Bureau of Land Management Tres Rios Field Office is hosting two open house meetings to share information regarding route designations for travel management on public lands in Archuleta, La Plata and Montezuma counties.

In 2017, the BLM released its route inventories on an online interactive map for public review. The open houses will serve as a forum to discuss the public’s insight on transportation and access.

“Transportation planning is vital so communities can access and enjoy the trailheads and travel routes on their public lands.” said Connie Clementson, Tres Rios Field Manager.

As stewards, the BLM manages public lands to benefit current and future generations by supporting conservation through the multiple-use mission. The information from public input will assist in the developing a proposed transportation system and associated trailheads to provide long-term access for hiking, horseback, mechanized and motorized uses within the Tres Rios Field Office.

The Jan. 30 open house will be held at the Montezuma County Commissioner Meeting Room, 109 W. Main St., in Cortez from 5-7 p.m. The Jan. 31 open house will be held at the Durango Public Library, 1900 E. 3rd Ave., in Durango from 5-7 p.m.
