BLM seeks public input on route inventories for Canyon Rims area

MOAB, Utah – Travel and transportation are integral to the use and enjoyment of public lands. In an effort to ensure a robust transportation network supporting all forms of travel, the Bureau of Land Management Moab Field Office is verifying route inventories in the Canyon Rims area south of Moab in advance of travel management planning. The BLM is seeking public feedback on the existing transportation inventory in this area to help inform future planning efforts.
The Canyon Rims Travel Management area covers approximately 90,950 acres of BLM-managed lands in northern San Juan County, Utah. The BLM has developed a map with existing information regarding trails, routes, and roads within this area. The map and instructions for providing feedback will be posted on the BLM’s ePlanning website: https://go.usa.gov/xPCdJ. Feedback will be accepted through September 26, 2018.
Comprehensive travel management planning in this region was last conducted as part of the Moab Resource Management Plan, approved in 2008. In the next few years, the BLM will be undertaking travel management planning in several areas across the state updating existing information and plans, including the plan for the Canyon Rims area. Additional opportunities to comment on travel management will be provided during the public scoping and analysis phase of the project.
