BLM Seeks Public Comment on Natural Gas Exploration Project

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – The Bureau of Land Management is now seeking public comment on the preliminary Environmental Assessment for a natural gas exploratory project near DeBeque.
A scoping period for the multi-well proposed project concluded in February 2012 with a 30-day comment period. The BLM has since prepared a preliminary EA to identify the possible positive and negative impacts of the project on the environment.
The Black Hills DeBeque Exploratory Proposal is an exploratory project with plans for up to 24 wells on 12 new well pads north and south of Interstate 70 near DeBeque. The project proposal spans a three-year program of oil and gas exploration under public and private leases. This proposal includes drilling along with construction of new roads and other support facilities including gas and water pipelines.
