ELKO, Nev. – The Elko District Office, Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has completed the Pseudomonas fluorescens Field Project Environmental Assessment (EA), DOI-BLM-NV-E000-2017-0003-EA.  The EA and an unsigned Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) are posted for public review until July 5.

This EA analyzes the proposed implementation of demonstration study plots for Pseudomonas fluorescens strain D7 on up to 50 acres. The proposed implementation would establish rangeland demonstration plots involving the incorporation of the biopesticide D7 into an integrated approach for the management of cheatgrass, medusahead rye, and/or jointed goatgrass involving the use of revegetation activities and herbicides.

On March 3, 2016 and again on April 13, 2017 the BLM initiated 30-day scoping periods seeking public input on the proposed study plots. A total of three comment submissions were received; these comments were considered during the preparation of the EA.

The EA and an unsigned Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) are posted for public review on the NEPA Register project website at: http://bit.ly/2nlKm4N.

Submissions may be mailed to BLM, Attn.: Samantha Cisney, 3900 E. Idaho St., Elko, NV 89801; emailed to TuscFO_NEPA@blm.gov; or faxed to (775) 753-0347. The 15 day review period will end July 5, 2017.
