VERNAL, Utah – In keeping with the Administration’s goal of pursuing America’s energy independence, the Bureau of Land Management Vernal Field Office is seeking public comments on an environmental assessment analyzing a 16-well oil and gas development, located about 25 miles southeast of Myton.

The Badlands Production Company is seeking to drill the wells on three existing pads and install approximately 26,600 feet of gas-gathering pipelines.  Public comments, which are due by Nov. 30, aid the BLM in developing a complete analysis in support of a well-reasoned decision.

The environmental assessment, maps, and additional information about this project are available on the BLM’s ePlanning website at: https://go.usa.gov/xnCtT. Comments may be submitted online through this website.  Alternately, comments may be submitted by email to UT_Vernal_Comments@blm.gov or by mail to 170 South 500 East, Vernal, Utah 84078.  Please reference “Badlands 16 Wells” in the subject line.

Comments are most useful when they identify issues relevant to the proposed action or contain new technical or scientific information.  Comments that contain only opinions or preferences will not receive a formal response, but may be considered in the BLM decision-making process.

Before including an address, phone number, email address, or other personal identifying information in any responses, please be aware the information submitted, including personal identifying information, may become publicly available.  While individuals may request BLM to withhold personal identifying information from public view, the BLM cannot guarantee it will be able to do so.  All submissions from organizations and businesses, and from individuals identifying themselves as representatives or officials of organizations or businesses, will be available for public inspection in their entirety.
