LAS VEGAS – The Bureau of Land Management is seeking public input on a proposal from the City of Henderson to develop approximately 80 acres of public land into a community park and fire station complex at the intersection of Bermuda Road and Larson Lane.

“BLM is pleased to have a role in developing a project to benefit the public and help the local community grow,” said Bruce Sillitoe, Las Vegas Field Manager. “This action will provide more recreation opportunities in the City of Henderson, while also improving public safety.”

The 76-acre community park would consist of several multi-use fields, an outdoor track, events plaza, a recreation center, tennis and pickleball courts, a field house with a gym, basketball and volleyball courts, a skate park, a multi-use recreation center with an indoor aquatics area, an outdoor aquatics area, playgrounds, a splash pad, restrooms, storage areas, concession space, picnic areas, activity areas, parking areas, a parking garage, bus parking, an undercrossing for pedestrian access, an irrigation system, utility services and a maintenance site with a fill-up station and wash area for recreation and fire support vehicles.

The proposed 12,000-square-foot Henderson Fire Station 92 would sit on approximately 4 acres in the north-east corner of the parcel and include four apparatus bays, 14 dorms, 7 bathrooms and other accessory spaces to support 24-hour staffing, 365 days a year. The building’s design is similar to other Henderson fire station facilities (Fire Stations 91, 85, 87), with an added bay and dorms for additional staff. It also calls for an area outside the firehouse dedicated for fire response training.

The Notice of Realty Action is available today in the Federal Register and begins a 45-day public comment period ending February 1, 2024. Written comments can be faxed to 702-515-5010 or delivered to: Las Vegas Field Office, Assistant Field Manager, 4701 N. Torrey Pines Drive, Las Vegas, NV 89130.
