The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Utah Canyon Country District Office today posted the list of parcels proposed for auction at the quarterly competitive oil and gas lease sale scheduled for Feb. 17, 2015 in Salt Lake City. Posting initiates a 30-day public protest period.The list includes 53 proposed parcels covering 55,097 acres in the Moab and Monticello Field Offices. The Moab Field Office contains 24 parcels covering 29,247 acres; the Monticello Field Office has 29 parcels covering 25,850 acres. All 53 parcels are identified as available to oil and gas leasing under the current resource management plans for the Moab and Monticello Field Offices.All protests must be received no later than 4:30 p.m., Dec. 15, 2014. Protests should be as specific as possible. Those which contain only opinions or preferences will not receive a formal response, but may be considered in the BLM decision-making process. Protests may be mailed to the BLM-Utah State Office at 440 West 200 South, Suite 500, Salt Lake City, UT 84101, or faxed to the attention of Justin Abernathy at (801)539-4237. The sale room opens at 7:45 a.m. to allow potential bidders to register and obtain a bidder number.
