Employees with the Bureau of Land Management-Montana/Dakotas today reported to work, earnestly preparing and opening facilities to welcome the public after the 16-day shutdown of the Federal government.“We are all happy to be back working for the American public," said State Director Jamie E. Connell. “We've been entrusted with stewardship of the natural and cultural resources of America's public lands, and we're anxious to begin providing public service once again."Except for seasonal closures, the public can expect BLM facilities in the Montana/Dakotas to be open for business effective today. Some maintenance issues as a result of the shutdown may remain for a few days until corrective action can be taken. Field Offices are currently assessing workload and priorities as part of an orderly reopening of the Federal government. We hope to be fully operational shortly.A public open house for the Draft North Dakota Greater Sage-Grouse Resource Management Plan Amendment and Draft Environmental Impact Statement will be held as scheduled from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., on Tuesday, Oct.22, at Bowman City Hall located at 101 First Street N.E. in Bowman, ND. This event will allow the public an opportunity to gain more information and offer comments on the amendment, for which the BLM expects to issue a Record of Decision by Sept. 30, 2014.The decision has also been made to go forward with the BLM Federal oil and gas lease sale scheduled for 9 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 22, at the BLM's Montana State Office, located at 5001 Southgate Drive in Billings.
