BLM Mojave-Southern Great Basin Resource Advisory Council Schedules 2014 Meetings

Las Vegas – The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) will meet with the Mojave-Southern Great Basin Resource Advisory Council (RAC) three times in Nevada in fiscal year 2014: March 13, in Las Vegas; July 17, in Las Vegas; and Sept. 18, in Ely. All meetings are open to the public.
The RAC advises and makes recommendations to the BLM on public land management. Discussion items will include, but are not limited to, the BLM Battle Mountain and Southern Nevada district resource management plans, permitted recreation, Southern Nevada Public Land Management Act, drought, and wild horses.
The March 13 and July 17 meeting will be held at the BLM Southern Nevada District Office, in Las Vegas, at 4701 N. Torrey Pines Drive from 8:30 a.m. to approximately 2:00 p.m. The Sept. 18 meeting will be held at the BLM Ely District Office, 702 North Industrial Way.
Each meeting will include a general public comment period. The RAC will hear public comments from 11:00 – 11:30 a.m., at the March 13 meeting. The agenda is available at http://www.blm.gov/nv/st/en/res/resource_advisory/mojave-southern_grat.html.
The Federal Land Policy and Management Act directs the Secretary of the Interior to involve the public in planning and discussion of issues related to management of BLM-administered public lands. The Mojave-Southern Great Basin RAC is one of three such councils in Nevada accommodating this community participation directive. Commercial and non-commercial users, are represented on the council, and include elected officials, state agencies, environmental, livestock, mining, Native American, and wild horse and burro representatives.
