BLM to hold route inventory review meetings for the San Juan Basin Badlands, Boca del Oso and San Ysidro Travel Management Areas

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - The Bureau of Land Management Rio Puerco Field Office invites the public to participate in an engaging conversation and review of route inventory maps and data for the San Juan Basin Badlands, Boca del Oso, and San Ysidro Travel Management Areas. The areas are approximately 40 miles north of Albuquerque, extending north to Cuba, bounded on the west by McKinley County, and extending east to Tribal and national forest lands.
Three open house public meetings will be held from 3-6 p.m. The first meeting will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 1 at the Ojo Encino Chapter House, located at Ojo Encino, NM 87013. The second will be on Wednesday, Oct. 2 at the Sandoval County Fairgrounds Community Center, located at 37 Rodeo Road, Cuba, NM 87013. The third will be on Thursday, Oct. 3 at the Albuquerque Marriott Pyramid located at 5151 San Francisco Road, NE Albuquerque, NM 87109.
Those interested are invited to stop by to review the route inventory maps and provide comments on the travel network. Project information, comment forms and information about future opportunities to contribute to this collaborative effort will be available at the meetings. The BLM’s goal for these meetings is to collect feedback and verify the inventory maps represent the travel network and to discuss and identify key issues and public access opportunities to be evaluated during the route evaluation and overall travel management process. Travel management includes all forms of transportation, including travel by foot, horseback and mechanized vehicles such as bicycles as well as the numerous forms of motorized vehicles from motorcycles and four-wheeled all-terrain vehicles to cars and trucks.
