BLM fighting North Eden fire near Cokeville

KEMMERER, Wyo. – The Bureau of Land Management Kemmerer Field Office is fighting the North Eden Fire, which has burned an estimated 8,000 acres southwest of Cokeville, Wyo., and east of Bear Lake, Utah. The BLM is working in coordination with the State of Utah, Idaho, the U.S. Forest Service and local county resources.
The fire is burning in grass, sagebrush and juniper, and in some critical sage-grouse habitat in Wyoming and Idaho. The cause of the wildfire is still unknown. A fire investigator is working to determine the cause and origin.
Due to fire activity, County Road 207 is closed between Sage Creek Junction, Utah, and Cokeville. Smoke could also affect conditions and air quality along State Highway 30. We urge the public to use caution or avoid the area because fire behavior can change quickly and fire spread is unpredictable if high winds develop.
