Cottonwood, ID – The BLM Cottonwood Field Office is planning an office closure on Monday, August 29, to allow the office to move from their temporary quarters into the newly constructed office building. Visitors, both in person and by telephone, are asked to wait until Tuesday, August 30, to contact the office.

The former office compound was made up of multiple buildings built in the 1950s to house military personnel. Due to safety issues, the buildings were demolished last year. The original main office has been used over the past year while the new facility was under construction but will be demolished shortly after the move to make room for a parking lot.

The new office provides 6,984 square feet and provides an efficient area, housing all employees in one space. A 4,940 square foot warehouse was also constructed. A local northern Idaho business, NNAC, was the contractor. Total construction costs are estimated to be $2.8 million.

The new facility has been built to meet the Department of Interior’s Guiding Principles which align with the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design certification program, an energy and environmental rating system for buildings. Many energy saving features including daylighting, lighting technologies and water saving features have been incorporated.

The new office will also have a new address: 2 Butte Drive, Cottonwood, Idaho 83522. The office phone, 208-962-3245, will remain the same.
