UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF THE INTERIORBUREAU OF LAND MANAGEMENTWASHINGTON, D.C. 20240http://www.blm.govJanuary 22, 2013In Reply Refer To:1114 (420) PEMS TRANSMISSION 01/25/2013Information Bulletin No. 2013-035To:                   AFOsAttn:    Volunteer CoordinatorsPartnership CoordinatorsRecreation Program LeadsNLCS LeadsFrom:               Assistant Director, National Landscape Conservation System and Community PartnershipsSubject:           National Public Lands Day 2013:  Request for Project ProposalsDD: 03/15/2013The purpose of this Information Bulletin is to request information on Bureau of Land Management (BLM) National Public Lands Day (NPLD) 2013 project proposals.We are happy to report that in celebration of NPLD 2012, BLM offices hosted 220 projects and events at more than 135 sites in 16 states, enlisting the help of thousands of NPLD volunteers.  It is noteworthy that on each NPLD for well over a decade, the BLM’s project representation has been at or near the top among participating Federal agencies.  We sincerely appreciate the State and field office efforts that have made the BLM’s record so outstanding.The date for NPLD 2013 is Saturday, September 28, 2013, and our goal is to have BLM offices host projects at 130 or more sites nationwide once again.  As you plan your projects, please consider the Director’s Office determination that as an important, longstanding, and high-profile BLM program, NPLD should be fully supported by each State Office out of FY 2013 base funding; no Central Funding will be made available for NPLD 2013.  However, National Public Lands Day volunteer recognition t-shirts will continue to be funded and provided to project/site coordinators by the Division of Education, Interpretation, and Partnerships.We request that once NPLD 2013 sites have been selected and approved by the State or Center Director, you provide all required information for each site on an NPLD 2013 Site Information Form (attached).  The BLM’s NPLD partners—including the National Environmental Education Foundation and the Public Lands Foundation—require information not addressed in Budget Planning System project forms, so we must rely on completed BLM NPLD Site Information Forms to fill in gaps.  Please provide as much detail as possible in each section of the form, and feel free to add additional information or site photos at the end of the form, as desired.  Site information forms are also available in Word format; please see the contact information below.Please consolidate your forms at the State or Center level and e-mail them, if possible in one group, to Bibi Booth (Bibi_Booth@blm.gov), Deputy Chief, Division of Education, Interpretation, and Partnerships (WO-420), by March 15, 2013.    We look forward to a highly successful, productive National Public Lands Day 2013.  Should you have any questions, or should you need assistance with project/site selection or forms, please feel free to contact Bibi at Bibi_Booth@blm.gov or (202) 912-7451.  Signed by:                                                       Authenticated by:Carl Rountree                                                  Robert M.
