Waterfowl Production on the Central Seward Peninsula, Alaska: Final Report

Waterfowl Production on the Central Seward Peninsula, Alaska: Final Report cover

Waterfowl brood surveys were conducted on public lands in the interior region of the Seward Peninsula, Alaska during 1989-1993. Production was monitored for four consecutive years on McCarthys Marsh and for three consecutive years in the upper Kuzitrin River basin. The 1993 estimated production of young ducks from the Kuzitrin flats was 4,888±1,857. Northern pintails (Anas acuta), and greater scaup (Aythya marila) were the most common breeders. Multi-year production averages are given for the two production areas and management implications are discussed.
