Event Description
The public is invited to preview trained wild horses currently located at the Rio Cosumnes Correctional Center in Elk Grove, California that will later be offered for adoption on the Wild Horse and Burro Online Corral. The in-person preview event will take place Feb. 28, 2026, 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. PST at the Rio Cosumnes Correctional Center located at 12270 Bruceville Road, Elk Grove, CA 95757
Registration is required to attend the preview event. Note that this is a preview event only; no horses will be available for adoption during the in-person preview event.
The animals at the preview event will be offered for adoption through the Online Corral, March 9-16, 2026. The Online Corral is the BLM’s internet-based platform where prospective adopters and purchasers can browse photos, videos and details about available wild horses and burros, submit applications, and adopt an animal – all from the comfort of their home.
To participate in the online event, the public can visit the BLM’s Online Corral, create an account and submit an application for approval. Interested participants are encouraged to submit an application as early as possible to become approved in time adopt or purchase. Detailed requirements for adopters and purchasers are available on the BLM’s website.
