Event Description
Join us in celebrating public lands during our National Public Lands Day event! Take part in our pine pulling contest (with prizes!), all while learning about the sensitive species found in Point Arena, the danger of the invasive pine encroachment, and ongoing restoration efforts. The volunteer project will focus on removing invasive pines along the coastal trails. You can volunteer for any length of time. No prior registration required. Volunteer registration will be at the BLM booth at the Point Arena City Hall from 8:00am-11:00am. Volunteers are welcome to show up any time between 8:00am and 11:00am. Volunteers are not required to volunteer for the whole 3 hours. This volunteer event will be taking place during the Point Arena-Stornetta Celebrate the Coast event. The event will have tons of educational booths, talks, displays, guided walks, and activities, all of which will be focused on the cultural, biological, and natural resources found within Point Arena-Stornetta. Volunteers are welcome to enjoy this free event!
During the volunteer project, volunteers will get the opportunity to learn about the biodiversity, native species, and invasive species threats to Point Arena, as well as get their hands dirty and make an important impact in protecting the landscape.
