BLM rescinds emergency fire closure of Marion Creek Falls Trail north of Coldfoot, Alaska
FAIRBANKS, Alaska – Due to reduced wildland fire activity associated with the Marion Fire (#295), the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Central Yukon Field Office rescinded the fire closure order that temporarily closed the Marion Creek Falls Trail at the Marion Creek Campground, mile 180 of the Dalton Highway. The closure will end at 12:01 a.m. Saturday, June 28, 2025, leaving no remaining public access closures associated with the Marion Fire.
Recent cooler, wet weather has helped reduce fire activity, but visitors should remain alert for changes and always practice outdoor fire safety. Here are some tips for campfire safety:
Make a fire only if you have sufficient water to put it out completely.
Never leave a fire unattended.
Keep fires small and manageable.
Extinguish fires completely using the water, stir, water repeat method. If it is too hot to touch, it is too hot to leave. Every campfire should be cold before leaving it.
You can find more tips for preventing wildfires on the BLM fire prevention webpage.
Visitors should stay tuned to fire activity at akfireinfo.com and check for current fire orders on the BLM Alaska fire restrictions webpage.
