KCL Campground | California

Camping is available on a first come-first serve basis--we do not take reservations. The campground has 12 campsites, 3 with elevated tent pads. There is an accessible vault toilet, along with picnic tables and fire rings. The campground has no electricity. Drinking water may not be available. There is no garbage service; please act responsibly and pack out any refuse you have. The campground has some of the few shade trees on the monument.

Accessibility Description (ABA/ADA)

Cell phone reception is spotty at this site.

From the entrance a packed-gravel loop connects the campground’s individual campsites. A picnic table and information kiosk with site and safety information sit on dirt and grass near the center of the loop.

Across from the picnic table is a double vault toilet on a concrete pad. Erosion may cause a lip between the gravel road and the pad.

The eastern portion of the campground has 8 sites, 3 of which are designated as accessible. The western portion has 4 walk-in tent sites that are not considered accessible. The tent sites are near a parking area that has room for 5 vehicles.

All the campsites are on gravel. The gravel in some of the sites is bounded by landscape timbers. Erosion may cause a lip when transitioning from natural ground to the timber to the gravel.

Campsites 6, 7, and 8 are the accessible campsites in the eastern part of the campground. They have picnic tables with an extended end to accommodate wheelchair users, fire rings with grill attachments, and elevated tent pads. The campground’s other “typical” campsites have the same amenities, except for the elevated tent pad. Some campsites also have a small bench without arms.

A water spigot with a twist-on/twist-off mechanism is located next to campsite 3, in a flat but somewhat uneven grassy area. This spigot is also near a large parking space with room for an equestrian trailer.

Bring your own water in case the spigot is not operational.

Descriptions and photos uploaded June 2026. Please note that actual on-the-ground conditions may vary due to natural events (e.g., weather, wildfires, erosion), normal wear and tear, or site improvements.
