Pit River Campground | California
The Pit River Recreation area is adjacent to the Pit River and has a small campground with eight campsites including tables, metal fire rings, and barbeque pits. Amenities include: two single wheelchair accessible restrooms, a kayak launch ramp, and an accessible fishing pier. Camping: $8.00/night Campground is Open, first come first served basis.
IMPORTANT!!! If travelling west through Fall River Mills on Hwy 299 Cal-Trans is reporting expected delays up to 89 mins. outside of town prior to reaching campground turn off.

A packed-gravel road leads from the site entrance to an information kiosk, partly covered by a small roof, and iron ranger fee-box. These sit on packed gravel near a flat parking area with 14 spaces that should be suitable for visitors with mobility impairments and mobility-device users.
There are 2 parking spaces next to each of the site’s 2 single-vault toilets, one of which is near the site entrance and the other near the kiosk and parking area. Erosion may cause a lip between the gravel road and the concrete sidewalks near the toilets’ entry doors. There is no potable water at this site.
The site has 5 trash cans, including 2 bear-resistant containers, and a dumpster, all near the parking area and the restrooms.
Past the main parking lot, gravel and dirt paths, with vegetation and uneven terrain in spots, lead to the campground and a day-use area. The campground has 8 campsites, 7 of them single sites and 1 a group site. All sites are on packed gravel and include concrete tables with recessed legs that can accommodate wheelchair users. The campsites also have elevated fire rings with attached grills, sitting on rock or concrete pedestals.
The day-use area has 4 separate sites, each with a concrete table with recessed legs and a raised grill. The ground can be uneven at these picnic sites. Trees provide good shade.
An uneven gravel and dirt path that is about 150 feet long, with encroaching vegetation in places, leads from the day-use area to the river. This path is lined by interpretive panels on the history and ecology of the site. Boulders used to prevent erosion at a 15-foot-wide fishing area might pose a challenge to visitors using mobility devices, but a nearby gravel ramp for kayaks, with a shallow slope, would allow wheelchair users to get close to the water’s edge.

From Redding, California, take Highway 299 East toward Burney, California. After Burney, go 12-miles east until you see the sign "Pit Power House" road. Follow the signs downhill to the campground.

- $12.00 Group camping fee. (one group site)
- $7.00 parking fee for additional vehicles
- America the Beautiful, Senior and Military passes accepted.
