Halfway Hollow Trail System | Utah
Tucked into the desert mesas northwest of Vernal, the Halfway Hollow Trail System is a multi-use network open to mountain bikers and hikers. With a mix of flowy singletrack, technical climbs, and expansive views, it’s a favorite for locals seeking a quieter, more rugged experience.
Trail Details:
Racetrack
• Distance: 6.5 mi | Difficulty: Intermediate | Direction: Recommended counterclockwise*
• Highlights: Fast, flowy singletrack with ridgeline descents. Popular with hikers.
Corkscrew
• Distance: 9.6 mi | Difficulty: Intermediate | Direction: Recommended clockwise*
• Highlights: Flowy singletrack with ridgeline descents and tight turns.
Skull Valley
• Distance: 6.4 mi | Difficulty: Intermediate | Direction: Recommended counterclockwise*
• Highlights: Scenic mesa-top views, ridge riding, and a gradual valley climb. This trail connects to the top of Racetrack, descend Racetrack to return to the trailhead.
Half Monty
• Distance: .25 mi | Difficulty: Intermediate | Direction: Bi-directional
• Highlights: Short connector that allows shorter loops on upper or lower racetrack.

- Head west on US-40/Main Street.
- Turn right (north) onto 500 N (UT-121 Lapoint Hwy.)
- Continue ~12 miles, trailhead is located on the north side of the road near milepost 28.
