  • Eastern Montana/Dakotas District

    • Billings Zone
      • The Billings Zone of the Eastern Montana Dakotas District staffs two Type 6 engines, and Type 2 IA crew, and a full service large air tanker/SEAT base.
      • Billings Type 2 IA Crew
        • The Billings Type 2 IA crew is a 20-person hand crew comprised primarily of veterans. The goal of the program is to develop well-rounded employees in fire management as well as other disciplines within the Bureau of Land Management. This crew will engage, transition, and connect military veterans with meaningful natural resource, fuels management, and wildland fire suppression experiences, as well as providing them with the skills and foundation for future employment opportunities. We are currently recruiting motivated individuals to fill the positions within this crew.

        • The Billings Interagency Dispatch Center (MT-BDC) is an interagency dispatch facility that serves USDA – Forest Service, Custer-Gallatin National Forest – Beartooth Ranger District, DOI –Bureau of Land Management – Billings Field Office, DOI – Bureau of Indian Affairs, and the Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation Southern Land Office.

    • Miles City Zone
      • The Miles City Zone of the Eastern Montana Dakotas District staffs one Type 6 engine in Ekalaka (MT), one Type 6 engine in Camp Crook (SD), one Type 6 engine and one Type 4 engine in Mikes City (MT), three Type 6 engines in Fort Howes (MT), and two Type 6 engines in Jordan, MT. The Miles City Zone also staffs one Type 3 helicopter (with helitack modules) and a full service SEAT base in Miles City.

        • The Miles City Interagency Dispatch Center (MT-MCC) is an interagency dispatch facility that serves the DOI, Bureau of Land Management – Miles City, North Dakota, and South Dakota Field Offices, USDA – Forest Service, Custer-Gallatin National Forest, Ashland and Sioux Ranger Districts, the DOI – USFWS, Charles M. Russell NWR Jordan Station and Medicine Lake NWR, the DOI – Bureau of Indian Affairs, Northern Cheyenne Agency, and the Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation – Eastern Land Office.

      • The Zortman Station is staffed with a Fire Operations Specialist, two Type 6 engines, and one Type 4 engine

      • The Lewistown Station is staffed with three Type 6 engines, a Type 3 helicopter, and a 12-person interagency Helitack Module
    • Lewistown Interagency Dispatch Center
      • The Lewistown Interagency Dispatch Center (MT-LEC) is an interagency dispatch facility that serves the DOI, Bureau of Land Management – North Central Montana District Office, and their respective field offices, the DOI – USFWS, Charles M. Russell NWR, and the Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation – Northeastern Land Office under one cooperating unit.
