Public Input & Actions

BLM publishes proposed and final rules in the Federal Register and carries out environmental reviews in compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act. Announcing and explaining bureau plans and proposals and providing the public an opportunity to comment on proposed actions is an important part of informed management. We encourage citizens to make their voices heard on the issues that are important to them.

On May 23, the Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management and the Bureau of Land Management Colorado River and Phoenix districts will implement seasonal Stage 2 fire restrictions in central and western Arizona.

BLM High Desert District plans to conduct prescribed burns

The Bureau of Land Management’s High Desert District may conduct prescribed burns this spring on multiple lands managed by the Rawlins, Pinedale, and Kemmerer field offices. This is contingent upon fuel moisture and weather meeting the required prescribed burn conditions. The treatments will only be implemented if specified prescription parameters are present.

Cottonwood Campground remains closed

The Cottonwood Campground in Green Mountain will remain closed due to a recent culvert failure. The site will not be open for Memorial Day weekend.

BLM Bakersfield Field Office issues seasonal fire restrictions

The Bureau of Land Management is issuing seasonal fire restrictions for public lands managed by the Bakersfield Field Office effective Thursday, May 22, due to dry conditions and high wildland fire danger. These seasonal restrictions are in addition to the year-round statewide fire prevention order. This seasonal fire order will remain in effect until further notice.

BLM seeks initial input for proposed Robinson Summit substation project

BLM seeks public input on a proposal to construct, operate, and maintain an approximately 50-acre expansion of the existing Robinson Summit Substation, plus a new 1.3-mile, 525-kv line connecting to the substation’s east side.
California, California Desert DO

The BLM initiates seasonal fire and target shooting restrictions in California Desert District

The Bureau of Land Management has elevated its seasonal fire restrictions effective May 21 for public lands managed by the BLM California Desert District within Imperial, southern Inyo, eastern Kern, Los Angeles, eastern Mono, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, and San Diego counties. These restrictions will remain in effect until October 29 unless terminated sooner if conditions warrant.

BLM announces fire restrictions to protect Pacific Northwest communities

On May 15, fire restrictions will go into effect for all Bureau of Land Management public lands throughout Oregon and Washington as warmer, drier weather is forecasted around the Pacific Northwest.
