Alaska Incident Support Cache (AKK)

The Alaska Fire Service Warehouse Cache is home to one of 15 National Type I Fire Caches in the nation. The AFS Fire Cache provides supplies and equipment for all fire suppression and fire management operations in coordination with other statewide agencies such as the State of Alaska, Cadastral Survey, Field Offices, and General Services Administration. They also coordinate supply operations with the other 14 National Fire Caches.

The AFS Warehouse Cache maintains an automated system of inventory and ensures accountability and control for all of the AFS fire stores, personal, and real property. The Cache also provides expertise and technical direction in the area of real property, personal property, and fire stores management to the AFS and the BLM-Fairbanks District Office.

The Warehouse Services Unit (LLAK9F2211) provides material handling, packaging, shipping, storage, disposal, maintenance and documentation required to support Bureau and cooperator projects.  Rehabilitates and maintains equipment in safe operating order; maintains supply and equipment stocking levels; establishes efficient warehouse space utilization and operational layout.

The staff disposes of items per survey board instructions; documents warehouse transactions by receipts, issues, returns, work orders and disposal, and assigns property numbers.
