Wild Horse and Burro Adoption to be Held in Lorton, Virginia

Who: Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Eastern States OfficeWhat: The BLM will hold a Wild Horse and Burro adoption within a short drive from the Nation's capital. Approximately 40 wild horses will be available, ranging in age from yearling to 5 years old. Visit http://www.blm.gov/wo/st/en/prog/whbprogram.html to learn more about America's Living Legends, and to download B-Roll of mustangs in the wild.When: August 14-15, 2015Adoption applications will be accepted on site beginning Friday at 2:00 p.m. and may be submitted through Saturday. The horses and burros may be previewed on Friday from 2:00 p.m. to7:00 p.m. Adoptions will begin at 8:00 a.m. Saturday and will close at 4:00 p.m.Where: The Meadowood Special Recreation Management Area, located at 10406 Gunston Road, in Lorton, Virginia. From I-95, take Exit 163 for Lorton and VA-642. Turn left (east) on VA-642/Lorton Rd for.2 miles. Turn right onto Lorton Market St. and continue straight when it becomes Gunston Cove Rd. The road will change once more to VA-242/Gunston Road. Continue for about 2 miles, passing the main entrance to the Meadowood Special Recreation Management Area. Travel for .5 miles past that entrance, and turn right onto the dirt road.
