LOVELOCK, Nev. – Fire resources from the Winnemucca BLM, Lovelock Volunteer Fire Department, and Rye Patch VFD were able to keep the Rocky fire at 1,613 acres and is 100 percent containment as of 3:05p.m. Monday afternoon.

With the fire controlled, fire resources will be demobilized to their home units by 6:00 PM. A Red Flag Warning remains in effect in the area for high winds and low relative humidity until 10:00 PM this evening. "Fires burning under Red Flag conditions have the potential to spread rapidly and pose greater risks to firefighters and the public" said Donovan Walker, Fire Management Officer for the Winnemucca District BLM. "Fires are intense and can burn out of control quickly with the winds leaving anything in its path little time to get out of the way."

The Rocky fire started on private land just after 7:15 p.m. on June 23 approximately 20 miles north of Lovelock. The cause of the Rocky fire is still under investigation.
