Oregon BLM Plans Open Houses and Workshops

Six Bureau of Land Management (BLM) District offices will be offering opportunities for the public to learn about the Draft Resource Management Plan (RMP)/Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for western Oregon management plan revisions. There will be a media call at 2:30 p.m. PDT (5:30 p.m. EDT) on Thursday, May 14, 2015 to discuss the outreach meetings and Draft RMP/EIS. The Draft RMP/EIS for western Oregon addresses a range of alternatives for the purposes of producing a sustained yield of timber, contributing to the recovery of threatened and endangered species, providing clean water, restoring fire adapted ecosystems, providing for recreation opportunities, and coordinating the management of lands surrounding the Coquille Forest with the Coquille Tribe.
“Public engagement is critical to the success of this planning effort," said BLM Oregon/Washington State Director Jerry Perez. “In our public meetings so far, folks have given us important and valuable feedback."
