Photo by Jeff Kurtz, BLM.MORENO VALLEY, Calif. - The Bureau of Land Management El Mirage Dry Lake Off-Highway Vehicle Area access road will be undergoing maintenance and repair work for approximately two weeks, beginning Monday, November 27. Scheduled work on Mountain View Road includes crack repair, asphalt surface re-seal, new pavement markings, installation of ADA compliant parking stalls, and a concrete swale to improve drainage. Visitation and access to the recreation area on Mountain View Road will be limited to one lane throughout the maintenance period.

The El Mirage OHV Area is located in the Mojave Desert on the western edge of San Bernardino County, near the Los Angeles County Line. This OHV riding area attracts motorcycles, ATVs, trucks, cars, buggies, land yachts, model airplanes, model rockets, ultra-light aircraft, gyrocopters, parasails, full-sized aircrafts, and more.

The areas of interest include the El Mirage Dry Lake Bed, the Shadow Mountains, the El Mirage Basin, and the Twin Hills area that make up the 24,400-acre project area of public and private land. Elevation ranges from about 2,800 feet at the El Mirage Dry Lake to more than 3,800 feet in the Shadow Mountains.
