BLM Posts Proposed Parcel List for February 2017 Oil and Gas Lease Sale

BLM, UtahThe Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Utah State Office has posted the proposed list of parcels for the upcoming quarterly competitive oil and gas lease sale, tentatively scheduled for February 21, 2017.  Four parcels totaling 4175 acres will be offered for lease in the Canyon Country District area.

The sale will be conducted utilizing the EnergyNet internet-based auction system.   Additional details about the internet auction process are included in the November 2016 Notice of Competitive Lease Sale (NCLS), which can be found on BLM ePlanning website Canyon Country Lease Sale project page http://go.usa.gov/xcQCh.  All 4 parcels are identified as available to oil and gas leasing under the current resource management plan.  More information about the parcels, including maps, the environmental assessment and unsigned Finding of No Significant Impact, can be found on BLM’s ePlanning website.

Notifications and updates to the sale schedule will also be posted on this webpage and announced through a press release.  A hard copy NCLS will also be posted in the BLM Utah State Office Public Room located on the fifth floor of the Gateway South Office Building 440 West 200 South, Salt Lake City.  

This NCLS initiates a 30 day protest period.  All protests must be received no later than 4:30 p.m., Dec. 12, 2016.  Protests should be as specific as possible.  Those which contain only opinions or preferences will not receive a formal response, but may be considered in the BLM decision-making process.  Protests may be mailed to the BLM-Utah State Office at 440 West 200 South, Suite 500, Salt Lake City, UT 84101, or faxed to the attention of Sheri Wysong at (801) 539-4237.  For information on how to file a timely protest, please refer to the NCLS.  Hard copies of the NCLS may also be obtained in person from the BLM-Utah State Office Public Room.
