REDDING, Calif. – The Bureau of Land Management is beginning a culvert replacement project to improve East Fork Road at the Chappie-Shasta Off Highway Vehicle Area, from now until Monday, Sept. 11. Access will be limited for public safety during construction.

“This is an important public safety project to replace a 50-year-old culvert under Cedar Creek,” said Jennifer Mata, manager of the BLM Redding Field Office. “Replacing the culvert now will avoid larger and more costly repairs in the future.”

During the project, visitor access to the OHV area will be limited to the Shasta Dam and Copely staging areas.  Roads and trails within the OHV area will remain open. The closed project area will be marked with signs.

The Chappie-Shasta OHV area near Lake Shasta provides more than 250 miles of roads and trails for motorcycles, all-terrain vehicles, quads and other off road vehicles. Routes are designated for all riding and driving abilities.
