This information bulletin announces the availability of and describes the recent updates to the Areas of Critical Environmental Concern Data Standard Version 6.
This data standard contains the definition and requirements for the Areas of Critical Environmental Concern (ACEC) geospatial data themes. It contains ACEC, including Research Natural Areas (RNA) and Outstanding Natural Areas (ONA), in Oregon/Washington (OR/WA) Bureau of Land Management (BLM). It describes the design standard for existing (ACEC_DESIG), proposed or potential (ACEC_P), and historic (ACEC_HIST) ACEC.
The following changes were applied:
- Updated the overall structure to match the National 2024 ACEC data standard revision.
- Added additional OR/WA feature classes and attributes to meet state and local data needs.
- Updated Section 2.1 to state that non-BLM inholdings should be represented as holes/donuts within ACEC polygons.
- Added additional fields to the ACEC Proposed Poly dataset to better support tracking nominated ACECs.
- Update of the Land Use Plan (LUP) Name domain.
- Updated publication views and editing procedures.
- Corrected minor errors throughout the document.
