Information Bulletin:

This information bulletin announces the availability of and describes the recent updates to the Fish Passage Data Standard Data Standard Version 2. This data standard was previously released under the name Fish Passage Barriers.

The Fish Passage dataset represents basic information about existing and potential barriers to fish passage in watercourses, e.g., dams, culverts, bridges, tide gates, and weirs. In addition to basic information about barriers, the dataset provides general passage status. This dataset is used to depict road stream crossings on fish bearing streams, to identify fish passage restoration needs, and to assess fish passage restoration actions.

The following changes were applied:

  • Reformatted document to meet Section 508 standards and match the latest data standard template.
  • Change name from Fish Passage Barriers to Fish Passage.
  • Changed document cover photo.
  • Updated FOIA category, keywords, and subject function codes.
  • Updated architecture diagrams.
  • Section 2.3 Removed text regarding appending NHD measures to data when sharing with ODFW.
  • Section 3.2 to adjust text about managing attachments.
  • Added default values for required fields.
  • Modified edit tracking field names to match current ODF conventions.
  • Adjusted domain names to better reflect ODF conventions.
  • Added Appendix B to document fields that are visible for data entry.

Any questions about this data standard can be directed to Emily Johnson, State Data Steward for Fish Passage at 509-306-5430; Rachele (Shelley) Moore, Technical Lead at 503-313-8054; Dana Baker-Allum, Geospatial Data Designer at 503-808-6320; or Eric Hiebenthal, State Data Administrator at 503-808-6565.
