Subject: Availability of Nevada Wilderness Status Map

The new Nevada Wilderness Status Map has been printed and distributed to district and field offices in Nevada and northeastern California. The 1:1,000,000 scale Nevada Wilderness Status Map dated July, 2008 replaces the January, 2005 map. It features BLM designated wilderness areas, BLM wilderness study areas, and National Park Service and U.S. Forest Service wilderness areas. Wilderness study area names and numbers appear on the map together with legal wilderness titles. The map has been updated to reflect recent changes in BLM district titles and boundaries under the three-tier reorganization.

Supplies of the new Nevada Wilderness Status Map were shipped to each district office in the state, and to the Eagle Lake and Surprise District Offices in California. Additional maps may be obtained by contacting Chet Beech, Contact Representative, in the Nevada State Office Branch of Business Services. Chet’s phone number is 775-861-6500. His e-mail address is Chet Beech/NVSO/NV/BLM/DOI and his FAX number is 775-861-6606.

The map will be sold for $3.00 each. All proceeds from the sale of the new map will be deposited in the 5700, Copy Fees account. Records of sales at both the state and district office levels will be kept in order to determine the number of maps to be reprinted and the amount of money needed from the 5700 account for reprinting.

If you have questions, please contact Steve Smith in the State Office at 775-861-6477.
