Subject: State Fish, Wildlife, Botany, and Threatened and Endangered Species Program Meeting

Several years have passed since the last program meeting. A lot has changed in the Fish, Wildlife, Botany and Threatened and Endangered Species programs in recent years, new employees, new issues, etc. Several Field Offices have requested guidance on issues ranging from Migratory Bird Treaty Act, Wind Energy, Section 7 Consultation, and implementation of State Wildlife Strategies or Plans.

Washington office’s recently issued IM 2006-114 State Wildlife Action Plans direct the BLM to consider State Wildlife Action Plans in land use and conservation planning on BLM- Administered Lands. This Program meeting provides an excellent opportunity to deliver consistent direction and guidance on where the Fish, Wildlife, Threatened and Endangered Species and Plant Conservation program is headed. Additional benefits will come in the form of information sharing and networking.

We have scheduled the Fish, Wildlife, Botany, and Threatened and Endangered Species Program Meeting for May 15-17, 2007 in Reno Nevada. This years meeting will be at the Meadow Wood Courtyard located at 5851 South Virginia Street 775 -829-4600. A block of rooms will be held under BLM5 until 4 pm May 4, 2007.

The target audiences are all Nevada biologists, botanists, and natural resource specialists working in the Fish, Wildlife, Botany and T&E program, Associate Field managers for Renewable, as well as any Field Managers. Please see the attached proposed attendees list.

Please contact Elroy Masters, Program Lead for Fish, Wildlife, Threatened and Endangered Species at 775-861-6626 or by email via lotus notes if you have any questions.
