Subject:      Solicitation of Nominations for Natural Resource Conservation Awards                          (DD): 12/01/2016; 01/11/2017; 02/10/2017

The Division of Fish and Wildlife Conservation (WO-230) is soliciting nominations for Wildlife Conservation Partner Awards, Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Career and Professional Awards, Joint United States Forest Service (USFS) and BLM Conservation Awards, and the Presidential Migratory Bird Federal Stewardship Award. All BLM state directors, field managers, and employees are encouraged to submit nominations for one or more awards for individuals or groups who exemplify the performance or contributions described in Attachments 1, 2, 3, and 4 herein.  The deadlines for the award nominations vary and are listed below. 

Please consider submitting nominations for the following awards:

BLM/Wildlife Conservation Partner Awards (DD: 12/01/2016)

•    Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation Elk Conservation Award – Three categories

To recognize the dedicated people and outstanding projects which have contributed significantly to the conservation of elk, other wildlife, and their habitat.

•    National Wild Turkey Federation Making Tracks Award – Four categories

To recognize the wild turkey conservation efforts of outstanding people and successful conservation projects implemented on BLM-administered lands.

•    Mule Deer Foundation Mule Deer/Black-Tailed Deer Conservation Award – One category

To recognize BLM field offices or individual employees for development and implementation of projects that exemplify excellence in mule deer and/or black-tailed deer conservation, including maintaining and enhancing the productivity of mule deer/black-tailed deer populations and their habitats.

BLM/Linda Siebert Career Achievement Award (DD: 01/10/2017)
The Linda Seibert award gives recognition to a BLM Biologist or Manager who exemplifies the characteristics and professional dedication of one of the BLM’s finest biologists.

BLM/Jim Yoakum Emerging Professional Award (DD: 01/10/2017)
The Jim Yoakum Emerging Professional Award recognizes an early to mid-career BLM wildlife biologist or fisheries biologist who has demonstrated a high level of professionalism, leadership, and commitment to managing wildlife and fisheries on public lands.

BLM/USFS Joint Natural Resource Conservation Awards (DD: 01/10/2017)

•    Conservation Project Award

To recognize the development and implementation of a joint BLM/USFS project with outstanding conservation accomplishments for fish, wildlife and/or native plants and their habitats on public lands, and/or facilitates their use, enjoyment or appreciation.

•    Conservation Partner Award

To recognize an organization or individual representing a conservation organization for their outstanding leadership in the development and implementation of conservation programs and activities that have directly benefited fish, wildlife, and/or native plants on public lands or their use, enjoyment, and appreciation.

Presidential Migratory Bird Federal Stewardship Award (DD: 02/10/2017)
The Presidential Migratory Bird Federal Stewardship Award, selected by the United States Fish and Wildlife Service’s Council for the Conservation of Migratory Birds, annually recognizes a single project or action conducted by or in partnership with a Federal agency that meets the intent and spirit of Executive Order 13186 by focusing on migratory bird conservation.

Nomination Process and Criteria
