Selected teachers will earn university credit through the University of Colorado Denver and receive a professional development stipend upon completion of a mutually beneficial lesson plan or other education project at an HOL site. In addition, TPL participants will have the opportunity to spend up to 30 percent of their time learning about public lands and resources, experiencing the day-to-day operations of the BLM, and working with the public. When teachers return to school in the fall, they are expected to spend part of their classroom time presenting their TPL projects to their own students and to other appropriate audiences. Hands on the Land site managers who are interested in hosting a teacher through the TPL program are asked to complete and return the attached application by December 31, 2013. Applications should be submitted via e-mail to HOL Program Lead Derrick Baldwin (dbaldwin@blm.gov) of the BLM Division of Education, Interpretation, and Partnerships.
